Speedy Quote Sunday

Heya Book Peeps!

Happy Sunday! You know what day it is! Book quote day–Speedy Quote Sunday. If you’re new to my blog and am clueless, here you go. Every other Sunday I post some of my favorite quotes or one from a book I’m planning on reading at some point in my life. I like doing this because it’s a way to connect with you guys and what books you enjoy.

Plus, I just like sharing quotes. Some of them just stick with you and make a crater-sized impact.

“Dreams that come true can be beautiful, but they can also turn into nightmares when people won’t wake up.” (Caraval, Stephanie Garber)

I’m waiting for Legendary to come out on paperback before reading which will be in May. I’m chomping at the bits and I won’t be able to wait for Finale that long so I’ll probably borrow the hardback and then buy the paperback for my collection. Caravel is so DAMN good! Swept me away and that’s something you aren’t supposed to let happen at Caraval. And, this quote always kind of stung. Dreams turning into nightmares. It’s always scarier when it happens while you’re away, because you can’t wake up then.

“Sometimes it takes more courage to stay in place than to move.” (Stain, A. G. Howard)

And it’s scary as hell. Be brave.

“Love with your mouth shut, help without breaking your ass or publicizing it: keep cool, but care.” (V., Thomas Pynchon)

All things we could all learn. Takes practice, but find the balance. Keep cool, but care. That one may be the hardest for me. I care too damn much about some things. LOL.

Hello, beautiful book lovers,

Here are some great quotes from some great books. Sometimes there are moments when a book will strike you with life-changing words.

“Sometimes only pain can heal.” (Dorothy Must Die, Danielle Paige)

Before it can get better you’ve got to get through the tough stuff. Sometimes it hurts. Sometimes it hurts a lot. But there’s good on the other side which is why like this quote.

“No one with a book is ever alone, even in the darkest moments.” (Ash and Quill, Rachel Caine)

So much love for this. It’s SO true.

“Is there a real-life block button? Because I need that in my life.” (Broken Prince, Erin Watt)

Dude…yes.

Hello, bookworms!

Hope you’re having a great day.  Here are some book-ish quotes that have moved me and inspired my thoughts.

“There’s a limit to how much living can be done in a life without freedom.” (Sever, Lauren DeStefano)

Makes you ponder how free you truly are versus how free you truly feel.

“Free yourself. Have the courage.” (Glory O’Brien’s History of the Future, A. S. King)

I think I’ve posted this one before. If so, here it is again, because I love it so much. Something so little says so much. Inspires so much.

“Hope is a powerful thing. Some say it’s a different breed of magic altogether. Elusive, difficult to hold on to. But not much is needed.” (Caraval, Stephanie Garber)

Hope is a magic. It creates such an ineffable feeling that can give us unbelievable strength and power to strive for greatness.

My booklovers!

Some book quotes move you like an earthquake, tsunami, tornado—you pick. They can move us with force and strike our hearts like lightning, stunning us. Here are a few of my favorites.

“…grownups acting like the worst kind of kids, kids acting like they knew what was going on.” (Vineland, Thomas Pynchon)

This is a book that blew my mind up. It was wild and definitely one I need to come back to. It’s also a book that struck me with wisdom I didn’t expect to find.

“You should know the difference between secrets and lies.” (Red Queen, Victoria Aveyard)

Discovering the difference between the can (many times) be difficult. This quote moved me because it was so dark. Secrets and lies are what we use to protect ourselves, but they also hurt others.

“Laughing doesn’t make bad things worse any more than crying makes them better. It doesn’t mean you don’t care, or that you’ve forgotten. It just means you’re human.” (Hollow City, Ransom Riggs)

I love this! It’s rings so trues, but I know it’s not always easy to come to terms with this. We are only human and you shouldn’t bottle up your emotions. You have to feel what you must and guilt, relief, happiness, sadness is all natural. Feel no shame for it.

Hello, book clan!

There are always those quotes you catch from a book that strike you and stay with you. Here are a few of mine.

“Sometimes when something touches you, it’s hard to find the words. You can say things like ‘beautiful’, ‘fabulous’, ‘awesome’, but the words don’t really describe how you feel, especially if you were feeling all that, but the picture made you-made you hurt some, too.” (Kissed By an Angel, Elizabeth Chandler)

Ineffable. When you can’t find the words for how strongly you feel whether it’s overwhelming happiness or unbearable sadness. When even trying to have such feelings can be difficult because all you felt for so long was a hollowness from something being snatched away and you don’t know how to fill it or what to fill it with.

“Beauty of whatever kind, in its supreme development, invariably excites the sensitive soul to tears.” (Edgar Allan Poe)

Poe is such a major favorite of mine. Though quite morbid and fantastic with imagery and horror, I find his words filled with emotion that strikes the heart.

“It’s funny how humans can wrap their mind around things and fit them into their version of reality.” (Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief, Rick Riordan)

There are some things that we struggle to adapt to and some we just refuse to accept. I’ve been there a few times.

Bookworms!!

I am so sorry I’ve missed a Sunday. Life took a turn for the busy, but here’s a fresh Speedy Quote Sunday.

Some quotes stick to our lives, allowing our hearts to expand and make room for meaning and dreams. At least that’s how it is for me from time to time. Here are a few quotes for you.

“If you ask me if I’m okay again, I’m going to smack myself in the face just to punish you.” (Midnight Alley, Rachel Caine)

I’ve read the Morganville Vampires series so MANY TIMES that I’ve had to buy new copies. It filled with wit, sarcasm, and the occasional ‘oh shit, I’m going to die’. This line is one that always makes me burst out laughing because we all have that person that you know this would work on. This is a special kind of relationship.

“Do you wish me a good morning, or mean that it is a good morning whether I want it or not; or that you feel good this morning; or that it is a morning to be good on?” (The Hobbit, J.R.R. Tolkien)

Such a logical question, especially if you’ve just woken up and haven’t had your coffee or breakfast yet, or your second breakfast. But then again, if you’re like me, you tend to skip a good part of the morning so that you don’t have to think about such a complex question.

“The right thing and the easy thing are never the same.” (Beautiful Creatures, Kami Garcia)

For the right thing is not always easy and the wrong this is not always difficult.

Speedy Quote Sunday

Hello my loves, my precious bookworms!

I hope you’ve had a splendid weekend and will have a splendid week. I was deeply inspired by the 5157 Miles Book Blog and really want to share my favorite quotes that have inspired me, made me laugh, cry or feel something so alien that it has stuck with me. Here, I want to share a couple, so I’ve decided to take up Speedy Quote Sunday. Quick. To the point. And something to mull over.

“Everyone tells you it’s all right to cry, but not enough people say it’s all right if you don’t want people to know.”

-Lemony Snicket, “Shouldn’t You Be in School?”

“There is a rot at the heart of what we love. It is not the knowledge or the preservation of it. It is the notion that only we can decide what is worthy, what is not, what is progress, and whether or not it should proceed.”

-Rachel Caine, Smoke and Iron

“The best books, they don’t talk about things you never thought about before. They talk about things you’d always thought about, but that you didn’t think anyone else had thought about. You read them, and suddenly you’re a little bit less alone in the world.”

-Tommy Wallach, We All Looked Up
